Telematics at Scale: A Case Study in Resilient Architecture
Posted by: Scott Wilson | 2025-11-11
Business Challenge
A leading luxury automotive manufacturer faced critical performance issues with its telematics application. Customers experienced frequent timeouts, slow response times, and unreliable service, resulting in low success rates and poor user satisfaction. As telematics features became a core expectation for connected vehicles, the lack of reliability posed a risk to both brand reputation and digital engagement.
Solution
We led a comprehensive re-architecture of the telematics platform, transforming it from a legacy, monolithic on-premise system into a modern, cloud-native solution. We decomposed the application into scalable microservices deployed on a cloud infrastructure, enabling modular development, faster updates, and improved fault isolation.
Key to the redesign was the introduction of asynchronous processing for high-latency operations and the implementation of intelligent retry logic, significantly failures for remote vehicle commands.
Remote start success rates increased from under 50% to over 80%, and the mobile app’s rating climbed to 4.8 stars in the app store.
